Weekly Update Oct 23-27 | Bus Zone Safety, Book Fair and Casino Volunteers, Attendance and Lates, etc

Dear Families,

Thank you for modeling safety when crossing the street with your child(ren). Please remember to leave the bus zone free for the bus ONLY and never stop in the middle of the road to drop your child(ren) off. We need to ensure that the traffic flow is moving to accommodate access to the school for everyone in a safe manner. We understand that the construction in front of the school has been problematic for some of you and your patience is appreciated.

Scholastic Book Fair

Scholastic book fair is coming to Richmond School! Mark your calendars!

This year in-person sales will take place in the Learning Commons before and during Parent-Teacher interviews:

Wednesday Nov 22, 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Thursday Nov 23, 4:00pm - 8:00pm

Friday Nov 24, 8:00am - 12:30pm

Scholastic does not offer an online shop anymore so we hope to see you at one of these times. Note that all purchases earn us Scholastic dollars which are used to buy books for the Learning Commons so all students will benefit.

We hope to see you there!

Attendance & Lates

Please note: The Calgary Board of Education recognizes the strong positive correlation between attendance and a student’s success in school. Regular attendance sets students on the path to reaching their full potential. Students arriving late to school/class impacts the student’s well-being as well as the well-being of their classmates. Please do your very best to ensure that your child(ren) arrive at school at 8:25am and may then enter the building with their classmates at the door designated for their class. Late arrivals to class impacts class routines and teaching and learning for all students.

Next Week:

School Council Update:

November Parent Council Meeting

Please note that the November Parent Council Meeting has been moved up a week to November 7 (due to the fall break).

Parent Council Casino

Almost there but we still need YOU!

November 11th and 12th Pure Casino 1420 MERIDIAN ROAD NE – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Every other year, your Richmond School Parent Association organizes volunteers from the school and community to take advantage of the opportunity to host a Casino. The funds raised from each Casino are used to provide our Richmond School students with educational programs, equipment, resources, books and special events they wouldn't otherwise have access to. Each event typically raises more than $60,000; that's $30,000+ per year that can be spent on improving our students' learning experience. If you are looking for a way to give back consider this; volunteering for one shift at our Casino is equivalent to donating ~$2,000. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
