Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians and teachers are able to connect face-to-face and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.
Student-Led Conferences
This format of conferences supports the belief that students should be actively involved in all aspects of their learning. Student-Led Conferences create a partnership between the teacher, student and parents to act as a support network in the success of the student. The depth of student understanding will be revealed through explanation of school work, activities and projects. Through Student-Led Conferences your child will take the lead on sharing examples of their work, discussing next steps and setting goals. Through this process students accept personal responsibility for their academic performance and learn the process of self-evaluation and reflection. As parents, you will be able to obtain first-hand knowledge of the learning experiences of your child.
As always, if you have a concern about your child’s academic success, you can contact your child’s teacher at any time.
