Richmond School – Your Community School Has Heart!
Our teaching practice begins with thoughtful and intentional plans for learning, allowing deep understandings and genuine inquiry. Our Digital Learning Environment has been enhanced to support student learning. Literacy and technology are interwoven and connected to enrich student engagement. Personalized Learning, using technology as desired is strived for, increasing the level of intellectual engagement. Learners can be so focused, so intensely engaged, that time itself seems to disappear! Teachers endeavour for student work to be relevant, meaningful and authentic to excite and engage learners.
Students have a new Outdoor Classroom located south of the school. "The Heart Circle," is a beautiful combination of hard and soft landscaping. The amphitheater design, with its limestone walk way being in the shape of a heart, clearly carries the motto that "Richmond School has Heart!" On bright sunny days classes have enjoyed using this learning space as a classroom and are learning to care for and appreciate nature.
To discover when your child is eligible for Kindergarten, try our Kindergarten Calculator. Richmond Child Care Association is located at the school and can offer before and after school care. Early registration assists our staffing for next school year.
Richmond School will be hosting a number of "School Previews," which will include a welcome tour for perspective parents. Please contact the school to find out dates and to register.

School Vision
Richmond School is an inclusive, resilient learning community where each individual feels valued and secure, and has a sense of belonging. We engage students in significant learning experiences in a spirit of shared inquiry. Through creative approaches in literacy, fine arts and technology, we foster lifelong learners prepared to take their place as thoughtful, responsible contributors to their world.
Buffalo Mural
The students at Richmond School show HEART by working in harmony; being engaged and adaptable learners who are encouraged to demonstrate respect and to speak the truth. A collaborative project between Ryan Willard and the students of Richmond School resulted in the creation of a Buffalo Mural. Students are reminded daily of the Buffalo Teaching and their Buffalo Challenge of iiyka’kimaa; to always face their storm and try hard. We look forward to sharing our learning journey with you through videos , artwork, and photographs documenting our process as we explored the various decades leading up to this momentous milestone.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report
Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
