Week Ahead Sept. 25-29 | Terry Fox Run Rescheduled, Orange Shirt Day, Fun Lunches, Casino Volunteers Needed
Dear Families,
We postponed our run this week due to the colder weather and will be participating in the Terry Fox Run on Tuesday, September 26! We are so proud to be a part of this Canadian tradition in the fight against cancer. Please support our student’s fundraising efforts and donate today at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/Richmond #terryfoxschoolrun @theterryfoxfoundation
Thank you to those students who brought in Toonies for Terry this week. All donations will be made to the Kid’s Cancer Foundation.
Students are asked to wear an Orange Shirt to school on Thursday, September 28 in Recognition of The Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This was first established as an observance in 2013, as part of an effort to promote awareness and education of the residential school system and the impact it has had on Indigenous communities for over a century.

Fun Lunches
We are excited to kick off the new school year with the first Fun Lunch of the year with Mary Browns Chicken on Wednesday, October 4!
All parents who have children who would like to participate in the school's fun lunches will have to visit the webpage Healthy Hunger and follow the instructions on that page. Please note you will choose RICHMOND SCHOOL (not Richmond Elementary) from the drop down. Even if you have registered in previous years, you will need to register again to select your child's new class in order to place an order. Once registered you will also receive an email notifying you every time a new fun lunch is posted (you will also see that Subway has been scheduled for October 25 which you can order for at the same time as Mary Browns Chicken if you wish!).
Orders must be received by the end of day Friday, September 29. There is the option to pay for your order online, or else you can place your order online and drop your money off at the school with your child's teacher or Kelly in the school office. Please note if you choose this option, Money will need to be received by NOON on Thursday, September 28 as there is no school on Friday, September 29. Please reach out to Nadine if you have any questions or problems placing your order.
Important !!!! Casino Volunteers Needed
November 11 and 12 Pure Casino 1420 MERIDIAN ROAD NE – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Every other year, your Richmond School Parent Association organizes volunteers from the school and community to take advantage of the opportunity to host a Casino. The funds raised from each Casino are used to provide our Richmond School students with educational programs, equipment, resources, books and special events they wouldn't otherwise have access to. Each event typically raises more than $60,000; that's $30,000+ per year that can be spent on improving our students' learning experience. If you are looking for a way to give back consider this; volunteering for one shift at our Casino is equivalent to donating ~$2,000. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
