Thank you to School Council and the Board Members who meet monthly to collaborate on supports for students and enhanced programming for the school. We have just reviewed our School Development Plan and Budget; it is evident that the supports received from Council make a significant difference and we appreciate the HEART in the decision making.
World Down Syndrome Day - Funky Sock Day
March 21 is officially World Down Syndrome Day. We will honour this day as a Spirit Day by encouraging students to wear their “Funky Socks” to school on Thursday. This important day helps us celebrate differences and encourages conversations about diversity, inclusion and acceptance.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
The Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will once again be in person. They will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm and Friday, March 22 from 8:00am-12:00pm. Please sign up through our child’s My CBE account. Online bookings are currently open and close on Tuesday, March 19 at 11:59pm.
Parking
We will be implementing some changes as soon as the new signage arrives. It is our intent to provide an area for a quick drop off, safe zones for the bus and taxis, as well as safety at all cross walks and crossing areas. If you choose to park your vehicle and walk your child(ren) to school you will need to park away from the designated zones listed below. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we make changes to keep the students and community safe.
- Bus Zone will move to be directly in front of the school doors. No stopping, no parking and no unattended vehicles.
- Student Drop Off ONLY, will move to where the bus is currently parking. This is will be a No parking or unattended vehicle. STOP & DROP OFF STUDENTS ONLY.
- Staff Parking Lot will be blocked off – no access except for Richmond Staff.
- NO Parking in front of the crosswalk near the school patrols or in the driveway entrance.
Thank you to our families who are modelling proper driving, parking and drop off procedures during the school hours. We appreciate your efforts to keep students safe and extending HEART to the community.
Important : Next Year School 2024-2025 Update
If you plan on moving and your child(ren) will not be attending Richmond School, please let the office know as soon as possible. Our student number count is important in our planning for the upcoming school year 2024-2025. Planning for the new school year will be on the agenda at the next School Council Meeting.

Healthy Hunger Update
More fun lunches have been scheduled! If you have created an account with Healthy Hunger you should have been notified twice of the newly scheduled lunches and will be notified as new ones are posted. If you have not yet signed up for an account please visit www.healthyhunger.ca to do so.
Looking ahead: April 3 - Coco Brooks
Note: April 3 is the week we return from spring break so it’s advised to order your fun lunch sooner than later so it doesn’t get missed!
If your child is absent on a fun lunch day and you’ve placed an order please call into the school before 11:00am to advise if you will be picking up the lunch, sending it home with a sibling, etc. No phone call means it will be donated to avoid food waste. Thank you!
